Pension Application for Jedediah Atwood

On this eleventh day of May AD 1825 personally appeared in open court of Common Pleas, held at Towanda in and for said County of Bradford, being a Court of record for the said County Jedediah Atwood aged seventy seven years resident in Wysox township in said County, who being first duly sworn according to law, doth on his oath declare that he served in the Revolutionary War as follows, that sometime in the month of March 1778 he enlisted for nine months in a company commanded by Capt. Coon and attached to Col. Buell’s Regiment in the State of New York, that he continued in the service of the United States until the February following when being sick and the company about to be discharged, he was discharged, he thinks at Ticonderoga, which discharge is lost, and I do solemnly swear that I’m a resident citizen of the United States on the 18th day of March 1818 and that I have no since that time by gift, sale or in any manner dispersed of my property or any part thereof with intent thereby so to [???]it as to bring myself within the provisions of an act of Congress entitled an act to provide for certain persons engaged in the land and naval service of the United States in the Revolutionary War, passed on the 18th day of may 1818 and that I have not, nor has any person in trust for me any property or securities, contracts or debts due to me nor have I any income other than what is contained in the schedule hereto annexed and by me subscribed, to wit.
1 Broad axe, 1 [?], 1 shoe trimmer, pr pincers. I have no family, am dependent on a son in law for support, my [?] for me, but having by accident lost one leg, cannot work much. (Signed) Jedediah Atwood.
