Pension Application for Isaac Austin

Private in the company commanded by Captain Forbish in the Regt commanded by Col. McDougal, In the New York Line for 2 years.

Delaware County SS.
            On this day of October 1832, personally appeared in open court before the Court of Common Pleas in & for said Court of Delaware Isaac Austin a resident of the town of Andes in the County of Delaware & State of New York aged 74 years or thereabouts who being first duly sworn according to law doth on his oath make the following declaration in order to obtain the benefit of the provision made by the act of Congress passed June 7, 1832.
            That he entered the service of the United States under the following named officers and served as herein stated.
            Isaac Austin born in the town Philipsburg Westchester County NY.  When the war broke out he resided in the City of New York where he had resided two years learning the shoemaker’s trade—on having of the breaking out of the revolution his master & several of his apprentices he among the rest abandoned the shop  & went into the army—Isaac Austin enlisted for 3 years under Captain Forbish of the City of New York.—He served the whole of his term of 3 years & was dismissed at the City of New York, got his discharge which was put into Capt. Forbish’s chest was in the Battles of Long Island, White Plains, at Trenton & several skirmishes was in the regiment commanded by Col. Afterwards Gen. McDougal—Isaac Van Hock was his Lieut. in Capt. Forbish’s company, James Fairler was his ensign—McDougal was his Col. When was a Lieut Col. & a Major whose names he has forgotten—resides now in the town of Andes County of Delaware—Has resided there since 1805.
            Does not know of any person alive who served with him except Isaiah Birch whose affidavit is hereunto annexed.
            He hereby relinquishes every claim whatever to a pension or annuity except the present & declares that his name is not on the pension roll of any agency in any state.  (Signed with his mark)  Isaac Austin
